This device connects to the EBPV control wire, transforming the factory valve into an electronically-controlled exhaust brake. Note that the EBPV's hydraulic activation causes a typical 2-3 second delay before engine retarding occurs. While the BrakeLoc is a cost-effective alternative, it is not a full substitute for an exhaust brake. For faster, more efficient braking, BD Diesel recommends their exhaust brake system, featuring Variable Orifice Technology, which offers superior performance and reliability compared to the stock EBPV.
